William M. Walton, 79, of Gloucester, VA passed away and went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 13, 2023.
He was preceded in death by his parents Emmett J. Walton and Lula V. Gunn Walton, and his son, William Keith Walton, along with brothers: Charlie and Lee, sisters: Christine, Nellie, and Hilda.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Mae Walton: daughters: Jennifer West & Lee Anna Walton (Matt Staten); step sons: Gene Squires ( Carolyn) & Tommy Squires; grandchildren: Alex Carmine, Virginia Nichols ( Kevin), Mikaela Walton, Richard West II , Jon-Michael West ( Faith), Robert West, & Rebekah West: Step grandchildren: Jeffrey Squires ( Dawn), Jennifer Hall ( Matt), Brandon Squires & Damion Squires; great grandchildren: Michael, Luke, & Jeremiah Nichols; and step great grandchildren; Dakota Squires, Kendall Hall, & Maddie Hall; Sister Rebecca Walden & Brother, Lloyd Walton, along with extended family.
He was born in Glenns, Gloucester County on Oct 5, 1943. He was the 8 th child in the family.
He enlisted in the US Army in 1961 and served in Germany and Fort Lee until 1964
He worked at Naval Weapons Station, Yorktown in Ordinance for 35 + years
After a brief retirement, he started working at Rosewell Cemetery as a grounds keeper. He truly enjoyed putting on his headphones, turn up the music, and riding the lawnmower.
He completely retired in Nov 2018 to care for his wife, enjoy his garden, and property. He was the greeter at church each Sunday and loved to make people smile.
Visitation will be held 9:30 am to 11:00 am on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at Beech Grove Baptist Church, Hayes Va. Followed by funeral service and grave side burial.
We would like to thank Riverside Walter Reed Hospice, Dr. Frank West, and the medical staff at Riverside Regional OICU for their care.
