William Joseph Jowers, Sr. devoted husband, loving father, doting grandfather, and cherished brother, died on October 10, 2017.
Bill, 60, was born on October 1, 1957 in Louisville, Kentucky to Wilma Mae Palmer Jowers and Thomas Jefferson Jowers who preceded him in death.
He spent his formative years in Columbus, Indiana before moving to Virginia in 1970.
Bill married Joyce Yvonne Wainwright April 5, 1975 to whom he was absolutely devoted and considered her "his other half". To this union, were born the true joy in his life; his children. But as much as he loved his children, that love hit the stratosphere with the births of his grandchildren!
Bill had the most extraordinary sense of humor. He never met a stranger. Everyone should have a "Bill" in their lives.
He owned W. J. Jowers Construction. He is survived by son, William Joseph Jowers, Jr. and wife, Nicole; grandsons Ford and Parker; daughter Julie and spouse Antonio, grandson, Darrell, and granddaughters, Destiny and Zoe; also daughter, Jenna and husband, Josh; and grand dogs Rocco and Sadie.
He is also survived by his in-laws, Johnny and Ramona Wainwright who considered him their son; his sister-in-law, Pat and her children, Christine and David.
Bill is also survived by six siblings; Connie Rhodes of Tacoma Washington, Thomas Jowers and spouse, Karen of Gloucester, Skeeter Kiki Hill and spouse, Jon, of Newport News, Deanna Hill and spouse, Mike, of Newport News, Dale Jowers and spouse, Darlene, of Smithfield, and Marvin Jowers of Hayes
. Bill is also survived by a plethora of nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
Bill and his wife, Joy, attended New Hope Baptist Church. Joy would like to thank her church family for their love, friendship, and prayers during this difficult time.
A celebration of Bill's life will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at Providence Baptist Church, Hayes, Va
