Obituary

Wayne Lewis Adams, 94, of Mattaponi, VA, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2026 at home after an extended illness. Born October 31, 1931 in Ripley County, MO, he was the son of the late Virgil and Julia McKee Adams. He was the husband of the late Betty Jane Krablin Adams, his wife of 58 years. Mr. Adams grew up in St. Louis, MO until high school when he and his parents moved to Iron County, MO. He was a graduate of Annapolis High School in Annapolis, Mo. He moved with his parents back to St. Louis after graduating high school. He was drafted into the U.S. Army from 1952-1954 during the Korean War. He received Korean Service Medal W/1, Bronze Service Star, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal while in the Army. Coming home from Korea he worked in sales and attended Washington University in St. Louis. He completed his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and went to work in Civil Service in St. Louis. In 1968 he was transferred to Baltimore, MD and lived outside of Union Bridge, MD for 46 years. He retired from the Civil Service and was active with Union Bridge Church of the Brethren and Union Bridge Lions Club. After his wife passed away in 2014, he moved to Mattaponi, VA to live with his son, Roger D. Adams and wife Julie. He enjoyed gardening, photography, genealogy, reading, and listening to gospel music. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Ronald Gene Adams, who lived in Dexter, MO.
