Walter Earl
Coffing
May 30, 1943 — Nov 22, 2024
Gloucester
Walter Earl Coffing, 81, unexpectedly passed away on November 22, 2024. He was a loving husband to Nancy and a cherished father to his daughters. As difficult as this time has been for our family, it gives us some comfort knowing he passed while doing activities he enjoyed.
He leaves behind his cherished wife of 53 years, Nancy Coffing (Krebs); daughters, Yvonne (Mike) Perdue, Stephanie (Tom) Christman, Kimberly Coffing, Terri-Leigh Coffing (Rob Koonce); grandchildren, Sean (Lizzie) Christman, Amanda Perdue, Shannon (Anjaneth) Lynskey, Aidan Lynskey, and Jackson Koonce; step-grandson Christopher Koonce; great-grandchildren, Sean Christman Jr, Eleanor Dowd, Megan Christman, Eleanor Dowd, Jacob Dowd, Athena Otto, Aspen Lynskey, Ryan Christman; sister Bonnie Adams; brother Lonnie (Lorwill) Coffing; Nieces Anita Alcorn (Adams), Vickie Adams-Carter, Illa Lane (Adams); nephew Dean Adams; several great-nieces and great-nephews.
He retired as a master sergeant in the United States Army, honorably serving his country for 22 years. He continued supporting our military members while employed with the Department of Defense. After his second retirement, he moved to Virginia in 2007 to be closer to what matters most: his family.
Dedicated to the love of his life, Nan, they spent each day cherishing each other and doing everything together. It was always evident how proud he was of his family and how much he loved each of us.
In addition to his spoken words, his look of admiration towards his family embraces us with the warmth and love that we will always cherish. He had a kind heart and a warm smile and would do anything for family or strangers. His family will feel his loss deeply.
