Violet M. Brooke, 83, passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Hospice House of Williamsburg. She was a native of Toano, Va. and was the daughter of the late William and Hettie Hazelwood Moore and the widow of John R. Brooke. She was a member of Petsworth Baptist Church and was a member of the Toano High School Class of 1952.

She was also preceded in death by her daughter Susan Ely, two sisters and is survived by her children Bonny Graves of Newport News and Melinda Vanderoef of Holly Springs, NC, five sisters, her grandchildren Bobby Lynn Plimpton, John Graves, Jr. Emily Ely, William Vanderoef, and John Robert Vanderoef.

The family will receive friends at Petsworth Baptist Church on Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 10:30-11:00 am with funeral services starting at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to either the Hospice House of Williamsburg or to the Peninsula Rescue Mission.
