Richard Anthony Hamlet, Sr., age 79, passed away June 12, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter C. Hamlet, Sr. and Thelma Rudd Hamlet Munoz. He is survived by his wife, Virginia "Ginny" Layburn Hamlet, sons Richard A. Hamlet, Jr. (Cindy), Timothy Miles Hamlet, and Paul Randolph Hamlet, siblings Walter C. Hamlet, Jr., Alexandra E. Prevost (David), Thomas R. Hamlet (Sharon), and Joel J. Hamlet. Also surviving are grandson Brandon S. Hamlet, and granddaughters Heather G. Hamlet and Hailey N. Hamlet. Mr. Hamlet was part owner of Hamlet Cleaners, a family business founded by his father in 1954. A celebration of Life will take place at Andrews Funeral Home & Crematory, 7192 Main Street, Gloucester, Virginia, 23061 on Saturday, June 24 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service.
