Nona M. Chapman, widow of Capt. Claude Homer Chapman died on December 31, 2018 at the age of 92 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loved ones. Nona was a graduate of Washington Irving High School and St. Mary's School of Nursing. She worked at McGuires Hospital and retired from Sanders Nursing Home.

She is survived by a brother Gerald (Buddy) McClain and his wife Jeanne of Bridgeport, WV, three daughters Nancy Barr(Ralph), Cheryl Zecher(John), and Karen Jackson; six grandchildren Stephanie Booker, Lacey Jackson, Bobby Jackson, Brittany Ellis, Brock Kennedy, and Blake Kennedy, and seven great grandchildren Morgan and Andrea Booker, Hayden and Gunna Hall, Greyson and Ainsley Ellis and Henry Kennedy.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 6-7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Singleton United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Beulah Baptist Church in Ware Neck, Va. Special thanks to her wonderful caregivers, Kitty Haskins, Melanie Brooks, Jeane Marie Hudgins, Jean Lewis, Tina Carrington, and Tianna Marble. Nona loved flowers or either contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital or to the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society. Andrews Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
