Myrtie Nelms Hayes, 68, passed away on September 29, 2021 at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital. She was born in Rocky Mount, NC and was the daughter of the late Almos and Myrtie Nelms. She retired from Newport News Shipyard after 30 years from the electrical department.
She was preceded in death by her brother, retired Virginia State Trooper Jeffrey Scott Nelms and is survived by her daughters Melody Armon, Taylor McAhpae, and Mandy Elaine Taylor Loving, sister Susan Elaine Mills, brother Kevin Nelms, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
There will be a time of fellowship for Myrtie on October 23, 2021 from 1-3:00 p.m. at Newington Baptist Church. Andrews Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
