Michael Emmett "Mike" Newhouse – Mike Newhouse, 79, of Dutton passed away on January 4, 2022. Born on February 28, 1942 in Fairmont, WVa, he was the son of the late Emmett and Jeanne Newhouse. Mike was most recently a member of Olive Branch United Methodist church and attended Groves Memorial Presbyterian church.
Mike is survived by his wife Mary Jane (Hill) Newhouse and his three sons Michael Paul, Charles David "Chuck" (Rachel), Christopher Allen (Erin), and grandkids Benjamin and Lydia. He is also survived by Mary Jane's daughters, Theresa White (Timmy), Karen Townsend (Don), Debbie Smith (Tracey), and Sharon Jenkins (David), six additional grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother Danny Paul (Brenda) and two sisters Diane Claire and Linda Sue.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary (Longest) Newhouse and wife Patricia (Fawcett) Newhouse. Mary Longest's surviving children include Tim Longest and daughter Molly, Bonnie (Billy) Wandersee and daughter April, and Beth (Marty) Heaton and daughter Jordan.
Mike received degrees from West Virginia University and Virginia Tech in forestry and agronomy. Known as the Dirt Doctor, Mike worked for the Cooperative Extension Agency as a Soil Scientist and performed soil evaluations for many of the homes built in Gloucester. Mike loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed life to the fullest.
On Saturday, January 8, visitation will take place at 10:00am at Petsworth Baptist Church followed by the service at 11:00am performed by Pastor Michael Condrey and Pastor Ann Tang. Burial will follow at Olive Branch United Methodist Church Cemetery.
