Melissa Lee Kintigh (Maxwell)

"Aunt Liss" 73 years old, and a resident of Newport News, Virginia passed away peacefully January 28th 2021 at Riverside Hospital due to a combination of health complications and COVID-19.
Melissa, daughter of Mary Hazel and Edward Maxwell, was born November 5th 1947 in Sharpsville, Pennsylvania with her younger sister (Pamela Ann Coleman) where she attended and graduating from Reynold's High School. After high school, Melissa moved to Youngstown Ohio, then to Cleveland, Ohio …, working for the Cleveland Clinic Foundation until becoming a resident of Virginia where she worked in medical records, retiring from Community Service Board in Newport News, Virginia.
Melissa, a devoted member of The First United Methodist Church of Newport News, was passionate about her faith and relationship with Jesus, drawing her strength and finding comfort within the 23rd Psalm; she desired to have an impact by being a light of Christ in this world. An animal lover, she owned horses, volunteered /fostered in Siamese rescue, loved dogs and never met a stray cat that she didn't try to offer a meal to or create a home for …..
Melissa, beloved by so many is survived by: David Richard Kintigh (stepson), Lillian Jarosz (granddaughter), Pamela Coleman (Sister), Holly Jackson (Niece), Kelly Coleman (Niece), Sean Coleman (Nephew), Kevin Apple (Nephew), cousins: Karen Wright, Kyle Edmundson, Krista Manfredi, Kim Kuharik, Karol Ann Hurl and Jerry Hurl.
Preceded in death by: Richard Pedicord Kintigh (husband), Mary Hazel Keller (mother), John S. Keller (step-father), Brian Coleman (brother-in-law).
A memorial celebration will be held at a later date due to COVID-19 concerns. Andrews Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
