Mary Susan Martinez went home to be with the Lord on April 2, 2026.

She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Luis "Louie" Martinez Sr.; her brother, Lewis Brown Jr., and his wife, Lisa; her brother-in-law, Eddie Moore; and her four beloved sons, Luis Jr. (Marci), Graham (Allison), Tony (Marcie), and her baby boy Steven. She is also survived by her aunt Frances whom she loved and attended to almost daily.

Susan was like a second mother to many, including her niece Ashley Moore, her grandson Miguel, and her nephew Nick Morse. She was a proud grandmother to Bella, Maddie, Matthew, AJ, and Layla, two great grand children Weston and Allie Kate. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including Renee, Daniel, Jessica, Jeremy, and Joey, along with countless other cherished family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lewis Brown Sr.; her mother, Mary Ann Nance; her brother, Steven Brown; and her little sister, Lorraine Moore.

To everyone who knew her as Mimi, family was everything. She spent many years as a devoted stay-at-home mom before working at—and eventually owning—Rocky Mount Barbecue in Newport News, where she made countless friends. After retiring, she proudly delivered thousands of DoorDash orders, staying busy between family gatherings. Suzi loved traveling to Atlantic City and the Amish country with Louie, cruising with her family, and occasionally fishing—just like her father. Mimi was kind, caring, giving, and a strong believer in Jesus Christ.

The family will receive friends and family at the funeral home on Friday, April 10, 2026 from 11:00am - 12:00pm with funeral services starting at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be at Bellamy Memorial Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Andrews Funeral Home, Gloucester, Va. is in charge of arrangements.
