Mary Elizabeth Haislip Lopez Ball, 73, passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Hospice House and Support of Williamsburg. She was a native of Norfolk, Va. and was the daughter of the late Otis Lee and Mary Elizabeth Massey Haislip Sr. She was retired from Fitchett Hardware Store. She did volunteer work at Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society and was known as the Bird Lady for her expertise at helping birds and all other animals and also at Botetourt Elementary School. She was very much loved at any place that she worked. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Lenord Lopez, who was her childhood sweetheart and the love of her life, and Stephen R. Ball, and her brothers Gene Ralph Haislip and Raymond Levi Haislip and is survived by her sons, Jeffrey, Jonathan, and Robert (Amanda), her sister Linda Sue Haislip, brother Otis L. Haislip Jr. (Phyllis), sister-in-law Patsy Haislip, five grandchildren, and four nephews. A celebration of her life will be held in the spring.
