Major M. Gurkin, Sr. (90) passed away on Friday, 9/8/17 in his home. He was born in Selma, NC, and was the widower of Mary Theresa Gurkin. He retired from the U.S. Navy after serving 20 years and was the owner of Data Business Machines in Norfolk, VA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Major and Martha, and siblings Edward, Ruby Hazel, and Ollie May. He is survived by
his children Major Gurkin, Jr., Mary G. Richardson, and James P. Gurkin (Brenda); brother James Gurkin; grandchildren Teresa Delaney and James Gurkin Jr.; and great-granddaughter Alissa Delaney.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, 9/16/17 at 1:00 pm at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk, VA. Andrews Funeral Home & Crematory, Gloucester, VA is in charge of arrangements.
