Lonnie Ralph Generous, Sr., born July 19, 1941, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2024 at Walter Reed Convalescence & Rehab Center in Gloucester, Virginia.

He was born in Brooklyn, New York to the late Alonzo Joseph Generous and Harriet Beatrice Generous (Wilkins). He married JoAnne Donna Generous (Pratt) on January 6, 1962, and were married for 62 loving years.

He was a hardworking man starting at age 17, he went to work for The Roma Restaurant in Whitehall NY. He then went on to have a lifetime career in the tugboat industry and last worked for Reinauer Transportation Company out of Staten Island as a Deckhand. And on his days off he helped his father at the family marina "Generous and Sons Marina" in Whitehall NY. He was a kind and gentle giant, someone who would give you the shirt off back if that's what you needed. As a young man he liked building model cars, Lonnie loved his cat, Gabby and dog, Milo. He especially loved watching his favorite football team the Washington Commanders and his favorite baseball team the Washington Nationals. In his free time, he enjoyed watching movies in particular older western movies starring John Wayne and would go on to collect over 1000 DVDs, along with collecting football & baseball cards or other memorabilia.

He is survived by the love of his life and his best friend, JoAnne; one son, Lonnie R. Jr.; two siblings, his sister, Arlene H. (Generous) and her husband Kenneth Bump and a brother, Ralph E. Generous and his wife Sheryl (Seguin); A granddaughter, Joelle M. (Generous) and her husband Christopher Kosloske; two great-grandchildren, Alex and Noreen Kosloske; two sister-in-law's, Mabel Generous, wife of James , Anita Generous, wife of Gary; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was pre-deceased by his youngest son, Jaime Alonzo Generous; and brothers, Paul, James, Asa, and Gary.

At the discretion of the family, private graveside services will be held at a later date. The family has asked that memorial donations be made, in his name, to the Activities Department at Walter Reed Convalescent & Rehab Center or the Gloucester – Mathews Humane Society.
