Joyce Churchill Woods, 88, of Gloucester, VA was born June 14, 1934 in Durham, NC. She passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at 8:50pm Riverside Walter Reed Hospital. Joyce was a classically trained pianist who played faithfully for church functions for decades as well as highly trained secretary, exceptional in shorthand. She was a delicious cook who always had "three-square-meals" on the table; providing food was her love language. She retired from Gauley Sales Mining & Supply Company in West Virginia.

Joyce was preceded in death by her daughter Jenny Carolyn White. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, John W. Woods, Jr.; her children Joan Deborah White of Newport News, VA, William Thomas White III; and Jill Denise Johnson and her husband Junior Earl Johnson of Virginia Beach, VA; her grandson Jeremy Payne and wife Shawna Payne of Beckley, WV, their children, Cadence and Lincoln; as well as four step-grandchildren Julian, Victoria, Jordan and Joshua.

Joyce is also survived by her husband's family, daughters Cheryl W. Olander and Pamela W. Redmond and his sons and their wives John (Julie), Greg (Bonnie), Michael (Peggy), Patrick (Grace) and Chris (Johnna) Woods, eleven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at Maplewood Cemetery, Durham, NC.
