Jacqueline Dudley was born on September 23, 1944, in Worcester, MA, to parents Harrison A. and Ceciia S. Dudley. She died February 1, 201 8, in Gloucester, VA.

Jackie moved with her family to a farm in SD when she was 10. On the farm she was mother Cecilia's right hand, helping cook, clean, and take care of the younger children, experiences which instilled a strong work ethic. She attended school in Hazel, graduating in 1962. Jackie recognized her desire to work in the medical field and started that journey by enrolling in the Nursing program at South Dakota State University. When she left SD, she returned to MA, living close to her beloved
grandparents. Throughout her career in medicine, Jackie worked as an assistant/receptionist and transcriptionist in a dermatology office, as a paramedic after completing the training program in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and she worked on a government research project studying cancer. Jackie had an amazing ability to retain and recall all of the medical knowledge she acquired over the years and was a ready source of advice in medical matters for her family and loved ones. In her later years, she moved to Edgewater, FL, to be a caregiver for her father, Harrison. She was able to do this by working from home doing medical transcription, a skill that served her well. After her retirement, she moved to VA, to spend time with her sister Liz, eventually becoming her hospice caregiver. Though a difficult time for her, she provided skilled care with dignity, humor and a ready smile. In 2015, after Liz's passing, Jackie's niece JoElla invited her into her home and provided her a safe, warm, comfortable home.

Jackie was very active at Apostles Lutheran Church, Gloucester, where she was a member of the ABC Quilters and WELCA, as well as being a lector, teller, and communion assistant. Jackie also helped friends in the community, cooking meals, driving someone for a doctors appointment, or sitting with a friend whose spouse was in surgery. She took care of a niece's children on several occasions passed on the art of making apple pies, and dispensed medical advice when asked. She did pet sitting, too, taking care of beloved pets while owners had to be away from home. She was greatly loved and will be sorely missed.

Jacqueline was preceded in death by her parents and a sister,, Elizabeth Clements Huegel. She is survived by sisters Ellen A Welch {David} Sioux Falls, SD, and JoAnn Brown (Douglas) Paulden, AZ; brothers George Mathew Dudley (Jeanne}, Macquarie Fields, Australia, and John Frederick Dudley (Caro!yn) , of Spartanburg. SC.; and thirteen nieces and nephews, many grand-nieces and grand-nephews, cousins, and friends.
A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 11:00 am in Apostles Lutheran Church, Gloucester, Va. Andrews Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
