Hisako Therese Carron was called home February 23, 2018, to rest in perfect peace with her Savior Jesus Christ for all of Eternity. She was 90 years old and finally reunited with her cherished husband, Donald J. Carron. Therese leaves behind her devoted daughter and son-in-law, Terumi and Mark LaGuardia; three loving granddaughters and their husbands, Cherise and Patrick Bogue, Kristin and Michael Foss, and Simone LaGuardia, as well as four beautiful great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a younger sister, Shizuko Takashima, her four nephews, and their families in Japan.

Born in Kyoto, Japan into a last-generation Samurai family, Therese converted to Catholicism when she turned 18 and began a lifelong devotion to Christ, working with the poor and sick of Japan. She worked with Maryknoll missionary priests for many years and met her beloved husband, Donald while working with them. They worked side by side for 15 years ministering to the Japanese people in the name of Christ.

Therese left her family and home in Japan to begin a new life in America with her husband and daughter in 1967. Always an active member of her church, St. Louis de Montfort in New York, she continued as a Eucharistic minister at the Church of St. Therese after moving to Gloucester, Virginia. Therese also belonged to the Discalced Carmelite Secular Order Community for many years.

While Therese had many hobbies and passions, her greatest joy on this earth was always her family, second only to her love of Christ. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family will receive friends at Andrews Funeral Home & Crematory of Gloucester on Wednesday, February 28, 2018, from 6:00 to 7:30 pm, with a Funeral Mass at the Church of St. Therese on Thursday, March 1, 2018, at 11:00 am with Father James Cowles. Entombment will be in Windsor Gardens Cemetery, Dutton, Virginia.
