Georgia Gail Sutton 1949 - 2026

Georgia Gail Sutton, 76, of Gloucester, Virginia, passed away Friday, May 22,

2026, at home, surrounded by loving members of her family.

Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert O. and Elizabeth D. Sutton.

She is survived by her husband - George C. Ripley, Jr.; brother - Charles "Chuck"

Sutton; sister - June Sutton Klink; daughter - Georgia Painter; Son - Kris Selph;

Grandchildren - Liz and Connor, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is also survived by her stepsons, Erick Edwards (Julia) and Alex Ripley, and

her stepdaughter Sarah Ripley (Chris), plus step-grandsons Evan, Cole, Logan

and Ben.

Gail was born August 26, 1949 in Newport News, Virginia. She attended schools

in Mathews, Virginia, graduating in 1967. Gail loved horseback riding, and was

active in both the softball and basketball teams all through high school.

She received her nursing degree in 1999, actually attending the Rappahannock

Community College nursing program with her daughter Georgia. Gail worked for

the Riverside Health system for 30+ years as a lab technician and Registered

Nurse.

Gail's loves, besides her family, included ANY beach with sand, reading, baseball

games, and travel.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Peter Zullo for his many

years of providing compassionate, outstanding care to Gail.

Private memorial services will be held in the future, at some of the various

beaches that gave her so much joy throughout her life.
