Frederick Nixon was born in Petersburg, Virginia on January 5th 1935 to Ernest and Mamie Nixon. He was the youngest son of five siblings. He enlisted in the Navy in 1953 and served honorably throughout the Korean and Vietnam wars before retiring in 1970. During this time, he married Maezine Bennett Lilly and his family grew to include his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren that honor his life works today. Frederick proudly pursued his continuing education at Norfolk State University after his military retirement, while working in the public and private sectors both home and abroad. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, cooking, sports events, and spending time with friends and family.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Rosewell Memorial Cemetery, Hayes, Va.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Riverside Walter Reed Hospital, whose staff, doctors, and nurses consistently provided the very highest quality of patient and family centered care.
