Franklin Kershner passed away peacefully at his daughter's home in Gloucester
on June 29, 2024 with his family by his side. Frank was preceded in death by his
loving parents Jesse and Irmgard Kershner and his faithful German Shepherd,

loving parents Jesse and Irmgard Kershner and his faithful German Shepherd,
McKayla. He is survived by his oldest daughter, Shannon Halterman and his
son-in-law, Kelvin Halterman; grandsons Hector Franklin Rios, Trent
Halterman and Austin Halterman; great grandchildren Stella Rios and Franklin
Rios; granddogs Haeden and Shelbie; siblings Michael Kershner and Kathleen
Hedgepeth; youngest daughter Lesley Parish; granddaughter Lily Parish; along
with extended family members and friends. Franklin was born in Kittery, Maine
in August of 1953. He spent his early years in Germany before returning to the
United States. He lived the majority of his life in Newport News and graduated
from Denbigh High School. Frank worked for the Facilities Maintenance
Department at William and Mary for thirty years. He retired as soon as he was
able to so he would have unlimited time to spend with his family. His grandsons
were his absolute pride and joy. He didn't miss a ballgame, school event or
special occasion. He spent every holiday and many weekends with his daughter,
Shannon and her family. Thanksgiving was his favorite holiday and he was
always there to help get the turkey in the oven. His great grandchildren were an
added blessing to his life. He doted on them and would still get down on the
floor to play with matchbox cars or dolls. Pop Pop always had a bag of candy to
share. He loved baseball, his dogs, the outdoors, puzzles and coffee with
friends. Frank had a green thumb and always maintained an immaculate
vegetable garden. He enjoyed sharing his crop with family and friends. Franklin
will be deeply missed by his family, but we rejoice in knowing he is well and has
entered the Kingdom of Heaven. The family would like to thank Robin Gibson,
Carey Boughan and Christi Feliciano for all their care and help over the last few
months. We invite you all to help us celebrate his life with desserts and drinks at
our home on July 3, 2024 at 7:00. Memorial Donations can be given in honor of
