Florence High McGlothlin, age 71, of Abingdon, Va., passed away on Sunday, March 5th, 2017, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. Florence was born September 29th, 1945, in Portsmouth, Va., and graduated from Oscar Wilson High School in Portsmouth, Va. Following graduation she attended nursing school at Portsmouth General Hospital. She and her husband, Claude moved to Abingdon, Va., in 1977, where they owned and operated Stuckey's for over 30 years. Florence was a loving wife and devoted mother. She was an avid flower gardener and especially enjoyed traveling with her husband in their RV following retirement. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clinton Dewitt High and Katie Corbell High; one son, Landon Dewitt McGlothlin and one sister, Katherine High Guido. Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Claude McGlothlin, Sr.; one son, Claude Landon "C.J." McGlothlin, Jr. and wife Jonna; and one grandson, Landon Scott McGlothlin. She is also survived by one niece, Carolyn Guido Williams and one cousin, Hilda Taylor. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, March 10, 2017 from 12-2:00 p.m. with a gravesdie service following at the High Family Cemetery( Abindgon Church Cemetery), in White Marsh, Va.
