Doris (Dodie) Young Slaughter, of Hayes, Virginia age 62, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia. Doris was born September 21st, 1962 in Bennington, Vermont.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Lorraine (Cooper) Young; one sister, Helen Waitekus and two brothers, Leon Hall and John Young. Many aunts and uncles.

Doris is survived by her husband of 32 years, Robert Slaughter of Hayes, Virginia; one daughter, Paige Pointer and her husband Christopher of Gloucester, Virginia; two sisters, Loretta Johnson of Montgomery, New York; and Virginia Barber of Bennington, Vermont; four brothers, William Young of Queensbury, New York; and Stanley Young Jr. of Davenport, New York; and Harry Harmon of Shaftesbury, Vermont and Richard Harmon of Shaftesbury, Vermont; Many nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by one granddaughter, Lorraine Elizabeth Pointer.

There will be a memorial service held for Doris at a later date.
