Donald "Donnie" Edward Lanouette Jr., age 64, passed peacefully on October 24, 2026, and went to be with his Lord and Savior.
Donnie was born on September 22, 1962, at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida. Born with Down Syndrome, Donnie never allowed that to define him. He overcame challenges throughout his life with a strength, determination, and joyful spirit that inspired everyone who knew him. At just ten years old, he underwent open-heart surgery to repair a hole in his heart, beating odds that many thought impossible.Donnie spent his entire life in the loving care of his devoted parents Don and Linda, whose unwavering dedication, sacrifice, and love provided him with a life filled with happiness, comfort, and cherished memories. To know Donnie was to love him. He never met a stranger. His favorite introduction was a cheerful, "Hi, my name is Donnie," and once he met someone, he never forgot them. He genuinely cared about people and often asked, "How is so-and-so doing?" His remarkable memory, warm heart, and sincere interest in others made everyone feel special and remembered.Donnie loved bright colors and was happiest when surrounded by the vibrant colors of the rainbow. He enjoyed playing video games, listening to all kinds of music, sharing home-cooked meals with family, and celebrating the simple joys of life. His favorite times of the year were his birthday and Christmas, which he anticipated with childlike excitement and enthusiasm.Donnie's greatest gift was his sense of humor. He had an incredible ability to make people laugh and smile. Even during his final days, he continued to share laughter, smiles, and joy with those around him. His positive outlook and infectious happiness were blessings to everyone fortunate enough to know him. While Donnie leaves a void in the hearts of his family and friends, his legacy of love, kindness, laughter, and unwavering joy will live on in the countless lives he touched.Family and friends are invited to celebrate Donnie's life at Andrews Funeral Home in Gloucester, Virginia, on Monday, November 2, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Bellamy Memorial Cemetery in Gloucester, Virginia, on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we rejoice in knowing that Donnie is now at peace and at home with his Lord and Savior. His smile, laughter, and loving spirit will never be forgotten."Well done, good and faithful servant." - Matthew 25:23May he rest in eternal peace.
