Dolores Leigh Harwood departed this life on December 10, 2020 at Heron Cove Assisted Living Facility , Gloucester, VA.

Dolores (Tee) was the daughter of Richard Ansley and Marga riette ( MiMi ) Horsley Leigh and the wife of William Scott (Tootsie) Harwood, Sr. of Gloucester, Virginia. Dolores graduated Gloucester High School in 1960 . She married William on June 12, 1960 at Bellamy Methodist Church .  Directly following the wedding, the couple relocated to Georgia where they stayed for 4 months while William continued his service in the Army as a Communications Instructor at Fort Gordon.  The couple returned to Gloucester in October of 1960 where they resided for the last sixty years on their farm on Gumfork .

Dolores was a member of the Gloucester Women's Club and worked as a bookkeeper for Newport Boats with owner, Harry Sindle . Dolores had a love for painting, spending much of her time seeking out images of landscapes, water, fowl and farm scenes to use for her compositions. She enjoyed joking with friends , and better yet, a well-played prank. Dolores dedicated her life to being a wife and mother to her children. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially dur ing the holidays. She only saw the ' goodness ' in people. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her husband, William Scott Harwood, Sr., her daughters Tammy Harwood Kersey , Debbie Harwood Basta ; son, William Scott Harwood, Jr.; son-in-law , Ian George Kersey ; daughter-in- law, Anna Millen Harwood; grandchildren, Emily Grace Kersey , Andrew Scott Kersey , Karl y n Marie (Karly) Harwood, Victoria Ansley (Tori) Harwood and Charles Finley Basta ; brother , Richard Henry (Bubba) Leigh and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A private graveside service will be held at Bellamy United Methodist Church on Sunday , December 13, 2020.

The family extends many thanks to all who have visited and demonstrated love and care throughout the years. The family especially appreciates the care and kindness shown by Dr. Haggerty, his team, and the special group of caregivers at Heron Cove.

Memorial contributions may be given to Gloucester Volunteer Fire Department or a Community Service organization of choice.
