We are sadden to announce the death of Cathy Lynn Hannabach on July 10, 2024 following a short illness.
She is survived by her loving husband, Joe Hannabach, her five children (Ramsey Ismail, Suzanne Gillespie, Craig Ismail, Sandra Elliott and Stephen Hunsberger); also by her sister Linda Gough, brother Phillip Burns and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In the bridge world Cathy achieved the honor of being a Gold Life Master.
She loved board games, especially Scrabble, where she was nothing short of dangerous. She had a deep love and appreciation for the English language and inspired all who knew her.
Cathy was an accomplished author of books and many articles on various subjects, including Poetry, Dream Interpretation, Spiritual Matters, and of course Bridge.
She was considered by all who knew her as one of the kindest, gentlest, most loving, forgiving and beautiful souls they had ever known.
The world was a better place with her in it.
She will be profoundly missed.
A Memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, July 28, 2024 at Piankatank Community Building, 11888 Harcum Road, Gloucester, Va. 23061 from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions in Cathy's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, either at St.Jude.org or by P.O. Box 1999, Memphis, Tennessee, 38101. Andrews Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
