Audrey Hudgins Wright, 88, passed peacefully to her Heavenly home on May 10, 2026 in Mathews, Virginia. She was born April 8, 1938 in Susan, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Captain Russell Hudgins and Thelma Hudgins, her brother, Captain Elton Hudgins, her sister, Elaine Hudgins Nash, and her grandson, Kenny Lee Brown.

She is survived by her husband, Henry (Hank) J. Wright, Jr., her daughters Linda Janine Wright, Elizabeth Wright Bess, Jennifer Wright Metcalf, and Heather Brown Smith, as well as grandchildren; Kelly Penn Williams, Lillian Metcalf Bialer, Lewis Wright Metcalf, Cash Brown, Austin Bess, Blake Bess, Phoenix Bess, and great-grandchildren; Sofie Williams, Hunter Williams, Walker Williams, Asher Brown, Ainsley Brown, Alora Brown along with numerous other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Audrey, a graduate of Mathews High School, was an avid softball player, a beauty queen, and Tobacco Festival Queen.  She enjoyed working as an Executive Secretary for Colonial Williamsburg as well as modeling for their brochures.  Painting was her God-given passion and talent.  She took art lessons in the 1980s and quickly became a very talented artist.  She showed her work in many art shows up and down the East Coast, as well as locally at Mathews Market Days and Mathews Art Gallery.

As a native of Mathews and born to seafarers, Audrey's earthly love was being near the water, raising horses, sheep, goats, calves, chickens, geese, ducks, guinea hens, rabbits, and her many cats over the years, as well as her Siberian Husky, Nanook.  She thoroughly enjoyed gardening, flowers, and all of the amazing handiwork of God in Nature and wildlife.

She was extremely knowledgeable about shells, birds, lighthouses, and local history.  She also participated in extensive overseas prayer trips (in Asia, China, Mongolia, Tibet, South Africa, Israel) for End-Time Handmaidens and Servants, International.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on June 6, 2026, at Cornerstone Fellowship Church, with visitation at 11:00 am and a service at 12:00 pm.  The interment will be a private service for immediate family only, following the funeral.  In place of flowers, donations can be made to Cornerstone Fellowship Church (2243 Buckley Hall Road, Cobbs Creek, VA 23035).
